First learn what version of MS Office you have. If your icons look like these , you have Office X (2001). If your icons look like these, you have Office 2008. Or if you can’t tell (the differences are very minute), go to your Applications folder and look at the MS Office folder. It will be either: or .

- Download the most recent 2008 MS Office update (12.2.8). First check that you don’t already have it downloaded: open Word, and then on the Word menu at the top, click About Word. In the window that appears, compare the version number next to Latest Installed Update. Then follow the instructions for downloading here.
